YIT and Atria Partner on Next-Generation Food Plant

YIT Oyj and Atria Oyj have signed a contract for the construction of a cutting-edge convenience food production facility in Nurmo, near Seinäjoki. The agreement, announced January 19, 2026, marks a strategic step in industrial and energy-efficient construction as part of both companies’ sustainability and clean-transition goals.

The contract is valued at approximately EUR 13 million for YIT, which will build a new production building designed to support Atria’s modernization of its convenience food operations. The project aligns with YIT’s focus on clean transition and industrial construction within its broader strategy.

Atria’s concept for a “plant of the future” emphasizes energy efficiency and modern production systems that support long-term competitiveness and food security in Finland. The overall investment in the plant and related energy solutions is part of a broader program valued at over EUR 80 million, aimed at transforming convenience food production toward carbon-neutral operations.

Construction has already commenced, with foundation work underway. A formal foundation stone ceremony was held on January 19 at the Nurmo site, attended by Finnish Prime Minister Petteri Orpo. The facility is scheduled for completion by the end of 2026.
